recently, i have reading the book "jane eyre”。 although i forgot some details in the book, jane gave me deeply impression, i admire her very much. after that the teacher also told us to put the play in to a movie, and then we all can touch each hero’s soul in the book. the play it mainly tell us how jane is growing up when suffering from great difficulties and painless. whats more, it is impressed me that she still love her master even if he is blind at last due to rescue his mad wife.
and i like the classic lines what jane said to mr. rochester :"do you think i can stay to become nothing to you? do you think i am an automaton?--a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? do you think, because i am poor, obscure, plain, and little, i am soulless and heartless? you think wrong!--i have as much soul as you,--and full as much heart! and if god had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, i should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.
i am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh;--it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at gods feet, equal,--as we are!" its so beautiful, jane is a girl who will never lose confidence in life and always sensible when handling with some motional problems. jane was huge in my heart. she can control her life and fate. she knew how to continue her life and she got it!
maybe after what she told me i have known that what love is and how to love and to be loved! the book is a book worth of reading, so all in all let’s enjoy it!

over the course of this semester,i read a moving book:the little prince.it impressed me a lot, especially, the pure but deep emotion(love) between the characters such as the pilot and the little prince, the rose and the little prince, the fox and the little prince.the book remind me of the pure and nice emotion only found in childhood.
the main character our little prince live on a planet named b612 accompany with there volcanoes an a rose who falls in love with him but can not understand each other.consequencely,he leave his planet and his endless travelling.during this period,he come across a diversity of people. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd.then he enter earth and found thousands of roses alike.the little prince discovers that his rose is not the only ,plenty of her kind are everywhere, but then he realizes that his rose is special "because it is she that i have watered; because it is she that i have put under the glass globe; because it is she that i have sheltered behind the screen" . then he fall across the fox.she
teaches the prince "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye "
what impresses me the most is the fox’s words.love is a strange stuff.sometimes we see it but can’t grasp it.yet, true love may be, to some extent, invisible in surface but may last permanent.apart from love, others as well.indeed, sometimes what we consider right turn out to be wrong, what we consider real proves fictitious, what we confused may just turn out to be the truth.the path in searching for truth may long and time-consuming,we should harbour conviction, strong will and high hope.no matter what barriade in front of us,we ought to be couragous and face up to the challenge.

one of the most interesting questions about gullivers travels is whether the houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of swifts satire. in other words, in book iv, is swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? if we look closely at the way that the houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.
first we have to see that swift does not even take gullver seriously. for instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. also, when he first sees the yahoos and they throw excrement on him, he responds by doing the same in return until they run away. he says, "i must needs discover some more rational being," even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. this is why swift refers to erasmus darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the beagle-to show how gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. but if lemule gulliver is satirized, so are the houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati. they walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. as gulliver says, "it was with the utmost astonishment that i witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a vienese waltz. to my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the lord edmund burke" . as this quote demonstrates, gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the houyhnhnms is short-lived because they are so prideful. for instance, the leader of the houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of charles dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the kings and queens of england up to george ii. swift subtly shows that this houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when, in the middle of the intellectual competition, he forgets the name of queen elizabeths husband.
swifts satire of the houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. one of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that guenivre has brought with him to the island. first she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. but when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: "as i watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than mr. pope being fitted by a clothier. she dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. my horse sniffed the creature and turned away." it might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. but it makes more sense if we see that swift is being satiric here: it is the female houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth-century england. the houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress gullivers horse. gulliver imagines the horse saying, sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held mr. pope on her back makes me queezy .
a final indication that the houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the houynhms visits lilliput, where he visits the french royal society. he goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at gallilee)。 the scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: "the creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door" .
he has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed. swifts clear implication is that even though the houyhnhmns are smart, they do not know how to use that knowledge for the benefit of society, only for their own prideful agrandizement.
throughout gullivers travels, the houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong. though their intent might have been good, they dont know how to do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. they mislead gulliver and they even mislead themselves. the satire on them is particularly well explained by the new born houyhnhm who, having just been born, exclaims, "with this sort of entrance, what must i expect from the rest of my life!" .

my impressions after reading" the million pound note”。
this time i want to talk about a very famous short story written by mark twain……“the million pound note”。 referring to mark twain, you must feel familiar, because we must have read his works before. i still remember the article “ the bite events on the train” in our textbook when i’m in the middle school. what touched me most at that time were his ironic words. yes, he is a great humorist, novelist, writer and orator in america in nineteenth century. during his 40 years’ writing career, he created dozens of short or long stories, among which “the adventures of huckleberry finn” is of the most popularity, which was praised by hemingway as “the first real american literature”。 but today i am introducing his another work……the million pound note.
this story tells about a poor but honest american adam henry. when he was wandering in the street of london, he was given by two billionaires a letter, in which he surprisedly found a £1,000,000 pound bank-note. later he got to know that the two billionaires who were brothers had made a bet about the results after he got a one million-pound note at once. one of them thought the note wound count for nothing to the poor man because he could not prove that the money was his own while the other considered just as the opposite. dramatically, the plot went just out of my expectation. herry went to a restaurant to have dinner first. the manager was mean to him at the beginning but his attitude changed quickly when herry took out the note and asked for change. faced with a millionaire, the manager apologized again and again and obsequiously told herry that he didn’t need to pay for the bill right now. so herry managed to have a free dinner.
then similarly, herry went to a clothing shop and got a suit of clothes costing him nothing. like the plot above, people are curious of such a rich man and tried every means to cozy up to him, from free food, free clothes to free accommodation. at the same time, his social status was becoming higher and higher and finally higher than most dukes. apart from that, he later got a beautiful wife and 200,000 pounds of bank interest. i can imagine a bright future was waiting for him. the writing style of this story is so humorous. mark twain used hyperbole describing how our hero defeated snobbishness repeatedly. what i appreciate most is the detailed description of different people’s ridiculous actions before one million pounds, vivid, funny, ironic and humorous, which forms a caricature. in terms of the theme, it is apparent that the author wanted to denounce the overflowing mammonism in the society. even now it gives us an impressive lesson. yes, i cannot deny the importance of money to a person who wants to survive. we won’t live without money, with which we get food, clothes, house and many other
necessities. but we must know that there are many things which can’t be bought with money such as love or friendship. so in my opinion, money may be important to us, but not the most important. we need to build up the correct sense of money. another point i want to emphasize is honesty. from the plot, we can see that there were so many people the brothers could choose, so why just herry? i think it was because he was honest. when he got the note, what he did wasn’t use it right now but return it to the brothers. without a kind and honest heart, herry couldn’t have been such a successful man. there are various of tempertation alluring us in our life, only by keeping honesty and consciousness inside can we manage to resist them. to sum up, this story is a really good work of mark twain. the lesson i’ve learnt from it makes me want to be an honest man sincerely and lets me not to worship money too much. i begin to regret not reading it earlier.

reading a few days before reading the book , feeling has returned to a teen. this book is the green fairy. in my opinion, it is not a mere imagination, it come from folk.
in the other hand, some people say, only read out of childhood to be complete. i think so. from long time to now, he is the children of irrelevance,it is a legend.
among the students of popular stories include, such as: cinderella, the princess and the frog and so on.
cinderella did not receive love, but cinderella cherish their love, not because people can not give up his love became spiteful. she gave her the love of mother in the talk on, she put her love for birds in the exchanges, in the plant big beautiful tress. although the cinderella is in trouble, but he never give up. and hope of the future. deserve our learning.
the story of snow white, make me realize even more clearly: not all people are good, the wicked man will be punished.
like" snow white" in queen is a good example. she make every attempt, use unscrupulous divisive tactics hurt snow white, the end but to the jealousy and alive, this is the real kind, as the saying goes, the good are well rewarded.。
in my opinion, it is not the story itself, but when we read our thoughts, and after the operation. it made us into a good moral, and social services, and family harmony. nowadays, our country is striving to build a harmonious society, for peoples happiness to create opportunities. this book contains the philosophy, and this idea is similar to this book.

after reading a story of the grimm’s fairy tales, i can’t help rethinking the laziness and sympathy of the human beings.
lazy harry is definitely the laziest person i have ever read about. his wife is also influenced by him and becomes lazy too. undoubtedly, living comfortably without working is absolutely what we expected, yet it is impossible. society means competition, so that everyone needs to work hard and earn the bread for his family. can you imagine that the whole world is full of lazy people who just wait for others’ food? how could the society progress? how could they live on? thus, diligence is the essential factor which contributes to the development of the world. it’s significant for us students to deal with laziness correctly.
above all, grimm’s fairy tales shows us the goodness and badness of the world, every story has its own moral, what we can do is to realize the society and look ahead. besides,it also helps a lot in english, especially in reading skill.

“animals deserve our kindness, sympathy and understanding,” that is what anna sewell-the author of black beauty-wanted to convince her readers. thanks to sewell, i now think about the animal-human relationship from both the human and the animal’s point of view.
the inspiration for anna sewell’s novel was drawn from her own relationship with horses. anna sewell was born on march 20th, 1820 in norfolk, england and was crippled while still very young. due to her disability, she relied on horse-drawn carriages and grew to love horses as a result. she also became appalled by the careless and cruel treatment horses often received from humans and determined to write a book.. in the second year of work on the book, she was told that she had only eighteen months to live, but she persevered in order “to induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding (of the ) treatment of horses.” five years later, she was still working on black beauty, her only book. unfortunately, sewell died a few months after publication and never learned of the book’s huge success. black beauty formed an impassioned plea for animal rights at a time when such a notion had been dismissed as ridiculous.
the novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in britain during the victorian era. in that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. in order to call people’s attention to horses’ hard life, sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. this innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. raders heard the stories straight from the horse’s mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. people were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.
sewell formed the nove

oliver twist one of the most famous works of charles dickens’ is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in britain in 18th century.
the author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in london.
the hero of this novel was oliver twist an orphan who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. he suffered enormous pain such as hunger thirst beating and abuse. while reading the tragic experiences of the little oliver i was shocked by his sufferings. i felt for the poor boy but at the same time i detested the evil fagin and the brutal bill. to my relief as was written in all the best stories the goodneeventually conquered devil and oliver lived a happy life in the end. one of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft little oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of mrs. maylie and rose and began a new life. he went for walks with them or rose read to him and he worked hard at his lessons. he felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.
how can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? the reason is the nature of goodness. i think it is the most important information implied in the novel by dickens-he believed that goodnecould conquer every difficulty. although i don’t think goodneis omnipotent yet i do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.
for me the nature of goodneis one of the most necessary character for a person. goodneis to humans what water is to fish. he who is without goodneis an utterly worthleperson. on the contrary as the famous saying goes ‘the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’ he who is with goodneundoubtedly is a happy and useful person. people receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

“animals deserve our kindness, sympathy and understanding,” that is what anna sewell-the author of black beauty-wanted to convince her readers. thanks to sewell, i now think about the animal-human relationship from both the human and the animal’s point of view.
the inspiration for anna sewell’s novel was drawn from her own relationship with horses. anna sewell was born on march 20th, 1820 in norfolk, england and was crippled while still very young. due to her disability, she relied on horse-drawn carriages and grew to love horses as a result. she also became appalled by the careless and cruel treatment horses often received from humans and determined to write a book.. in the second year of work on the book, she was told that she had only eighteen months to live, but she persevered in order “to induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding [of the ] treatment of horses.” five years later, she was still working on black beauty, her only book. unfortunately, sewell died a few months after publication and never learned of the book’s huge success. black beauty formed an impassioned plea for animal rights at a time when such a notion had been dismissed as ridiculous.
the novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in britain during the victorian era. in that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. in order to call people’s attention to horses’ hard life, sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. this innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. readers heard the stories straight from the horse’s mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. people were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.
sewell formed the novel with three kinds of characters: black beauty, ginger and other farm animals. through their different experiences, i saw similarly painful lives led by the animals. this method made the earnest appeal for animal rights become more and more persuasive.
as a domestic animal, black beauty was continuously sold from one family to another. over the years beauty enjoyed good masters but also endured mean ones. sometimes, he was cared for and at other times tortured. in the end, everything turns out all right in a story that is so tender and yet meaningful. his story was so vivid that caught the readers’ heart. the novel brought people laughter and tears and also enlightened them to understand animals at the same time.
animals cannot speak so understanding is significant to them. once, for example, beauty was drawing the carriage to a wooden bridge. the bridge was flooded out in the river and john, the groom, was not aware that it was cracked. but the quickly realized that something was wrong because of beauty’s abnormal behavior. momentarily, a man shouted to them, “stop! stop!…the bridge is broken in the middle. if you come across, you’ll fall in the river!” beauty had saved john. however, if john had not tried to understand what beauty wanted to tell him, there would definitely have been an accident. i learnt from the story that understanding animals is not only essential to them but is also beneficial to us ourselves.
in order to emphasize the importance of understanding animals, the writer created ginger as a negative example. ginger was the friend of beauty who led a much more miserable life than beauty did. once she told beauty: “when i was trained, several men caught me in a corner of the field and one held my nose so hard that i could only just breathe. then others pulled my mouth open to put the bit in, and i was pulled along and beaten from behind. they didn’t give me a chance to understand what they wanted.”
poor ginger, kindness was all she needed. she was frightened seriously so she bit or kicked to defend any possible attacks. the more she was whipped the more she bit, the more she bit the more she was whipped. in this way, both animals and humans were trapped in a terrible cycle made by human beings. consequently, humans were frequently hurt by frightened horses. the author thus portrayed ginger to tell me that harming animals may also harm us.
when i have a sketchy look at other farm animals the writer depicts, it is simple to find more examples of cruel things humans do to animals out of ignorance. this part of the novel expanded people’s scope from only horses to all the animals and deepened the plea for animal rights and that made the novel more successful.
sir oliver, the old horse, had a 20-centimeter-long tail. his beautiful long tail was cut off just because the owners thought it was fashionable. humans never understood how pained a horse is when he can’t brush flies off his sides and back legs.
sky, the terrier, had had a part of her ears sheared off. her owners wanted to make her look cute and ignored that parts of her ears were intended to protect the delicate parts from injury. “why don’t people cut their own children ‘s ears to make them look lovely?” asked the poor dog angrily. yes, why can’t we think from the animals’ perspective?
“black beauty is a heartbreaking story,” i thought when my mother read it to me when i was a child. as a child i was haunted by the described cruelty to those horses. now i deeply hope, in the future, we will be able to tell our children that because of the book, and others like it, such mistreatment of animals no longer exists. and they just need to enjoy the novel as a beautiful historical documentary recording the progress of upholding animal rights. at that time, the dream of the author will have come true and her hard work will have been rewarded.

i believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. this is definitely a book everyone can relate to.
the adventures of tom sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author mark twain. tom sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the mississippi river called st. petersburg. the story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in tom sawyer"s life.
tom sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as dennis the menace, malcolm in the middle, and calvin and hobbs. what makes this story great is that tom sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. the book is filled with tom"s adventures playing pirates and war with his friend joe harper. tom has a trusted friend, huck finn, who few of the adults approve of. the book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. it is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. the whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.
the book is a little difficult to read at first. personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. other than referring to persons of african decent in derogatory terms (which i"m sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. i highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

the novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. the senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up. afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like this to give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already.
when i read " the senior fisherman think: here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place... " when, i extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but was approaches the bigger goal advance. again has a look us, usually meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain incessantly. we will be the motherland future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal.
when i read " the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish’s life, it was static static floats on the water surface... " when, my heart also liked together the big stone falls. i extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above. just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. we also must study senior fisherman’s spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully.
was reading the big fish’s smell of blood is smelled by one crowd of shark fish, struggled swims snatches the food, old person’s left hand happen to in the convulsions, he only could use the right hand, with wooden stick, the mouth and so on all was allowed to use for the weapon self-defense which attacked, and finally expelled this crowd of shark fish. but the big fish’s meat was already eaten one most, but the old person also charmingly criticized oneself the left hand " this work time actually was resting " time, i also was subdued by the old person optimistic spirit. in the life, some losses are inevitable, we should treat by the optimistic manner, cannot be calculating.
finally, the novel sees by one youth the senior fisherman fully has 18 foot long big marlin in the measure, once more described this fish’s hugeness, explained senior fisherman overcomes the difficulty was big, non- was more common than.
the novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous diligently did not struggle, we also should like his such, could not satisfy the present situation, should positively to above, do any matter all is relentless, meets difficultly must welcome difficultly above, could give up halfway in no way. only has this, we only then can obtain a bigger success and the victory.
the old man and the sea is one of hemingway"s most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. it played a great part in his winning the pulizer prize in 1953 and the 1954 novel prize for literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. besides the old man and the sea, i have read some of his other works, such as the sun also rises, a farewell to arms and the snow of kilimanijaro. but the old man and the sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.
i first read this book when i was in my fifteens. and now i remember it just as well as if i had read it yesterday.
