1. start your speech with… a testimonial
cite the behavior of a celebrity and/or quote an influential person the audience will know of or respect.
2. start your speech with… evidence
present statistics or other data on the importance of public speaking.
3. start your speech with… an anecdote
tell a story of someone directly affected by the benefits of public speaking.
4. start your speech with… a statement
make a bold observation on the importance of public speaking.
5. start your speech with… an e_ample
cite a person whose career really took off because of public speaking.
think testimonial, e_ample, anecdote, statement, and evidence for the ne_t speech you write. and dive in!
6.my message to all of you today is this: do not waste a minute living someone else’s dream," she said. "it takes a lot of real work to discover what brings you joy ... and you won"t find what you love simply by checking bo_es or padding your gpa.
1. the following are my opinions, and do not reflect the opinions or policies of any particular prosecutor"s office.
i am a prosecutor. i believe in law and order. i am the adopted son of a police officer, a marine and a hairdresser. i believe in accountability and that we should all be safe in our communities. i love my job and the people that do it. i just think that it"s our responsibility to do it better...
2. we are losing our listening. we spend roughly 60 percent of our communication time listening, but we"re not very good at it. we retain just 25 percent of what we hear. now -- not you, not this talk, but that is generally true.
let"s define listening as making meaning from sound. it"s a mental process, and it"s a process of e_traction...
3. there are things we say when we catch the eye of a stranger or a neighbor walking by. we say, "hello, how are you? it"s a beautiful day. how do you feel?" these sound kind of meaningless, right? and, in some ways, they are. they have no semantic meaning. it doesn"t matter how you are or what the day is like. they have something else. they have social meaning. what we mean when we say those things is: i see you there...

3. know your material. if you"re not familiar with your material or are uncomfortable with it, your nervousness will increase. practice your speech and revise it if necessary.

what life is about
as we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, tons of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us.
life isn’t about keeping score. life isn’t about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin. in fact it’s not about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. life just isn’t about that.
but life is about whom you love and who you hurt. it’s about how you feel about yourself. it’s about trust, happiness and compassion. it’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. it’s about what you say and what you mean. it’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. and we should always remember to be ourselves. other might have things that we desire but being what we really are is the only trail leading to the true colors of life. most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.
the parado_ of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; we buy more but enjoy them less. we’ve learnt how to make a living but not a life, we’ve added years to life, but not life to years. and it is time for us to choose whether to make a difference in our life.
and these choices are what life is about.

after spending most of his life alone and losing his only companion who is a young cuban boy, the old man heads out to sea once again.
his 84 days without a notable catch end on this trip, but will he be able to defeat the odds after catching a gigantic marlin?
this short novel is universal in its consideration of the plight of an old man struggling against age, loneliness, mortality, humility and poverty to maintain his identity and dignity. apart from that, the cheerful and optimistic old man wants to reestablish his reputation in the community. besides, he also wants to ensure for all time his relationship with those he loves and to whom he hopes to paon everything he values the most. finally, he survives and wins the battle. this has shown his heroic struggle not only redeems himself but also inspires and spiritually enriches those around him.
thanks for your attention.
a common concept among some people is that opportunities are few. they always complain that opportunities never occur to them. they only admire those people who make a hit or succeed by seizing some opportunities, and always wonder why they are never given a good opportunity to show their talent.
another common notion is that there are opportunities everywhere. opportunity may occur to anybody at any time and under any circumstances as long as he/she keeps ma-ki-ng constant efforts. as a student, you can get to the top through your hard work. as a businessman, you can succeed through accurate calculation and with a complete certainty that you can make a profit.
in my opinion, opportunity favors only those who keep trying and who are ready for it. as the saying goes "god helps those who help themselves", so no matter whether there"s opportunity or not, what we should do is to study, to learn and become learned people, only in this way can you seize your opportunity when it occurs. so never say there"s no opportunity again, opportunities are around us.

(三)结尾要简洁有力,余音绕梁。结尾是演讲内容的自然收束。言简意赅、余音绕梁的结尾能够使听众精神振奋,并促使听众不断地思考和回味;
